SCIEX approached SHEPPiD to redesign its flagship 7500 Triple Quad Mass Spectrometer—the industry benchmark for sensitivity and performance in mass analysis. As the top-selling model in the SCIEX lineup, the 7500 required a fresh
industrial design that not only enhanced its visual identity but also provided a more intuitive and user-friendly experience. The challenge was to balance advanced functionality with sleek, professional styling—ensuring it stood out as the premium product in the Triple Quad family. SHEPPiD collaborated closely with SCIEX’s internal development team to meet stringent design, regulatory, and safety standards, while also ensuring the product passed rigorous user experience studies with confidence.
SHEPPiD led the full industrial design process for the SCIEX 7500, from initial concept development through to design refinement and prototyping. We produced full-scale mockups and multiple development iterations to validate form, fit, and function.
Our team ensured strict compliance with all regulatory and safety standards, while optimizing the design for manufacturability across every component of the enclosure. Special attention was given to user workflow and ergonomic touchpoints, delivering a seamless and intuitive experience that aligned with SCIEX’s commitment to scientific excellence and operational precision.
What began as a cautious exploration quickly evolved into a standout success. Initially uncertain about the potential impact of a redesign, SCIEX’s key stakeholders were blown away by SHEPPiD’s first-round concepts. Our vision not only exceeded expectations but reshaped the product’s trajectory. The final design became the new visual and functional benchmark for the SCIEX product family. Since its launch, the 7500 Triple Quad Mass Spectrometer has received exceptional reviews from users worldwide—reinforcing its reputation as a top-performing, user-centric system in advanced analytical science.
